Sam Every is a British Arranger, Orchestrator, Conductor and Drummer.

Sam is widely considered as one of the most exciting young Arrangers and Conductors on the UK scene today. He is built up a reputation for being reliable, flexible and versatile. Over the past few years he has started working with some of the biggest musical organisations in the country.

Sam was raised in a very musical family in North Cornwall in the South West of England before he moved to North London to study at the prestigious Purcell School of Music on a full scholarship aged 13.

In 2020, Sam graduated with a 1st Class honours degree from the world renowned Guildhall School of Music and Drama, where he studied with Tom Richards, Ralph Salmins, James Maddren and Malcolm Edmonstone.

While Sam was at the school, he started his own Big Band, as well as released his debut album with pop band “The Delegates.”

This album, “Home From Home” would go on to receive over 500,000 listens on Spotify, as well as being used on multi-media advertising across TV and Social Media.

Since leaving Guildhall, Sam has gone on establish himself on the arranging and orchestrating scene, namely through his primary creative outlet - The Sam Every Big Band.

The Sam Every big band have performed at the UKs leading jazz venues, with an 100% sell-out record at all events. They have worked with a number of leading UK jazz vocalists, including Luca Manning, Sara Colman and Natalie Williams. They made their London club debut at the Pizza Express Jazz Club in 2019, and have been regular performers there ever since. Over the past few years, they have also performed to sold out crowds at Ronnie Scott’s Jazz Club, Spice of Life club and the Milton Court Concert Hall.

In 2020 they released their debut Christmas EP, “Christmas Is Here” to critical acclaim. It has been used since on Christmas TV adverts across Channel 4, ITV, Sky TV and BT Sport.

Sam’s big band writing has been utilised over a huge variety of styles. As a projects-based band, each event the band perform features a different set list, often featuring re-imaginations of iconic music. So far, they have performed brand new original arrangements of the music of Joni Mitchell, The Beatles, Prince, James Bond themes as well as new takes on American Songbook classics from the last century.

Sam’s freelance career has taken off in recent years, leading to collaborations with a number of leading UK artists.

His arranging clientele includes Ella Henderson, Universal Music, Purcell School Symphony Orchestra, BoneAfide Trombone quartet, Friary Brass Band, Connaught Brass as well as a wide variety of big bands and orchestras across the country. He is regularly involved either as a player, arranger or producer on songs released across the digital platforms.

In 2023, Sam became a professor of Arranging and Musical Direction at the London College of Contemporary Music.

As a copyist, Sam has been regularly preparing music for some of the world’s leading orchestras over the past 2 years. Predominantly working with British arranger Callum Au, Sam has prepared music for orchestras including the Metropole Orkest, the BBC Concert Orchestra, the BBC Symphony Orchestra and the Danish Radio Big Band.

As a drummer, Sam has been working professionally since the age of 16. After growing up performing with some of the top Brass Bands in the SouthWest, he continued regularly working as a session drummer and performer during his time in education and since graduating.

As a jazz drummer, Sam’s stylistic versatility has learnt him a hugely varied back catalogue of performing credits. He has played with both large and small ensembles, most notably The BBC Concert Orchestra, The Gareth Lockrane Big Band, and the London Jazz Orchestra. He has also provided drums and percussion for a huge amount of recorded projects including Voodoo Brass Band, Ned Moss, Samira Mighty, DeAndre, Gigi Williams and many more.

Sam regularly works in Orchestra pits for musicals across the country and has performed iconic shows such as Little Shop of Horrors, The Addams Family and Jekyll and Hyde.

Sam has also been working as a music manager and promoter since graduating from Guildhall. He has been working as a promoter at the prestigious Pizza Express Jazz Club for the last 3 years, promoting and managing gigs celebrating the very best of young talent on the UK Jazz scene.

With an extensive background in Orchestra Management and live event production, in 2023 Sam collaborated with Hannah Hutton, to start a new music management business.

Sam is incredibly excited to continue his growing his career, and is excited to continue to collaborate with some of the best leading artists in the UK with further dates and events at top venues.
